There was a wide variety, ranging from illustrated encyclopedia-like lists of works of the same genre to cut-and-paste paper crafts that could be enjoyed as art.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003e Proofreading \u003cbr\u003eA copy of an ukiyo-e rough draft. The rough draft drawn by the artist is pasted onto a board and engraved, and the black line drawing that forms the base of the design is carved. This carved line drawing is then printed in the number of colors to create a \"Kyogozuri\" (proof). This process is equivalent to film plate making in offset printing.
